They Don't Want To Know
Many think my sunshine is fake,
My happiness it's a choice I make.
They don't want to know cuz they don't want to know,
The pain that's been the underflow.
They don't want to know cuz they don't want to know,
The strife, the tears I struggled so.
As a child, with love's soft start,
I learned to hide the broken heart.
As a child, with light in sight,
I learned to live in silence, hold back the night.
They don't want to know cuz they don't want to know,
The learning's fight, the inner woe.
They don't want to know cuz they don't want to know,
How I keep my light and watch it grow.
I speak of joy, of sun's bright ray,
A path I found, not in a day.
They don't want to know cuz they don't want to know,
The unknown's fear, the undertow.
They don't want to know cuz they don't want to know,
The small one there, afraid to grow.
Afraid to stand, to rise up tall,
The backstory's pain, beyond recall.
A story of hurt, but love's small gleam,
A kindness born, a hopeful dream.
They don't want to know cuz they don't want to know,
How bad it's been, where shadows flow.
They don't want to know cuz they don't want to know,
Where no one's seen, where barren winds blow.
Born with a soul, a joyful spark,
A garden's beauty, in the dark.
Born with a heart of loving grace,
To share that love in every place.
They don't want to know cuz they don't want to know,
How they tried to crush and lay me low.
They don't want to know cuz they don't want to know,
How I stood up strong and let it go.
I grew up with light, through darkness' sting,
I grew up strong, with my joy, I did sing.
They don't want to know cuz they don't want to know,
How I survive, how I let it go.
The sun will rise, the darkness fall,
I am strong, standing tall.
The sun will rise, the shadows creep,
But I'm resilient, secrets keep.
