The Gift The Toll
A lifetime spent in giving's gentle art,
A heart that yearned kindness to impart,
And honesty, a flame that burned so bright,
And love, a beacon, shining in the night.
I gave and gave, with open, willing hand,
Love flowed freely across the shifting sand.
But lately, giving's well begins to dry,
A weariness that clouds the spirit's sky.
I wrote the words, heartfelt and true,
Before the memes, when feelings still felt new.
I stood before the crowds, with hopeful plea,
To lift their spirits, set their own hearts free.
Yet here I sit, defeated, forlorn,
By life's harsh winds, my spirit slowly torn.
My heart feels empty, though I wear a smile,
A mask I don for just a little while.
My friends, I loved, they took with open hand,
Then left me freely, scattered through the land.
No blame to cast, no anger to ignite,
The fault is mine; I failed to learn the light,
The boundaries that should hold.
I turned the cheek, I offered no defense,
Gave all I had, at such a great expense.
No victim dwells within this quiet space,
Just me, alone, in this familiar place.

The Sharp Snap
A year's sharp snap, many years undone with a clap.
A life stalled by destiny and yet freely given.
An open door pulled fully from just being cracked. No gentle sway, it was pulled open all the way.
In to the great unknown she was hurled, a heart of fear, a world unfurled.
Yet faith, a thread she's always known, grace's quiet strength, honor heart sewn.

Red Blood Against False Lines
My skin is white, and I can't make wrongs turn right.
Yet, when you call, my friend, I'm ready for the fight.
For love knows no bounds, no false lines they create.
I'm here to comfort you, through any darkened state.
I'm sorry, friend, their hate I can't erase, our blood is red, their hate a false, twisted space.
Let's stand as one and break bread, bringing a new energy to this world heavenly led!

An Ode To My Brother
Brother, met in vision, you taught me worth, you teach me wisdom's flow.
Your stance, a glance reveals, to those with vision's glow.
Brother, your worth, a boundless treasure, unseen by eyes that feign to know.
Their glares, they fade, like fleeting shadows, from light they cannot show.
Brother, you walk a path that seems alone, where hidden pains deeply grow.
Yet, in your strength, your worth you hold, a strong journey's untold flow
Brother, know we see you, those who walked through storms, though quiet we may seem,
Our hearts see things without form, beyond a fleeting dream.
Brother, we love you, heart to heart, a man and elder who walks his truth's art,
Fighting quiet battles, keeping this place safe from all strife's dark start,
Through darkest nights, to dawn's bright life, a people's hopeful part.

Haunted by Whispers
Leary, tired, and weary, a heavy heart I bear.
Three states that linger, a constant, lingering snare.
Overstaying welcome, they refuse to depart,
Trapped within my soul, a heavy, aching desire.
No one sees the frozen shadows that stretch and twist and snare.
They turn away, afraid to face the darkness there.
Alone I wander, a solitary soul,
Haunted by the whispers, cold as winter's hold.
I yearn for solace, a comforting embrace,
But fear rejection, a lonely, empty space.
A prisoner of doubt, a captive of the night,
Seeking hope and healing, a faint, warm ember’s glow,
I know a distant light will never let me go.
